A few years ago, I pulled up to the Saint John Canada Hilton where, upon leaving the vehicle to go inside to checkin, I was asked by two gentlemen how long I would be. I told them about 5 minutes. Well the checkin process took a few more minutes than is usual at this property, and soon one of those gentlemen approached me at the desk to come and please move my car immediately. Since I was now done, this was not a problem. When I got outside I quickly noticed why there was an urgency for me to move my vehicle. Immediately behind my car were about 15 cars, all with flags of Ireland. Yes, my checkin was holding up the arrival of the President of Ireland, who was to give a speech at the adjoining convention center across the street. Needless to say, the lounge, which was usually quiet on a Saturday night except for some locals, was hopping the whole evening.
Other notables was a member of ZZ Top (I don't know his name)rolling his motorcycle into the elevator to go up to his room as I was getting off it at the Savannah Marriott, Caspar Weinberger at the Bangor Airport Four Points Bookstore, George Carlin, also at the Bangor FourPoints restaurant.
