as a consumer, price discrimination is never a desirable thing.
what i hated about this segmentation is (and a valid complain which BA never takes heed): the club service becomes extreme inconvenient for really globale travellers.
e.g. as a US EC member, i only have a few toll free number when i need to redeem mile outside US. even at LHR T4 lounge, the agent was unable to help me with FFP issue.
wehn IDD is not expensive, but there is more, the time zone, the EC center is closed outside office hour.
and i think this is insane, and totally stupid and waste of resources
