I recently stayed at this Sofitel, and my impressions echo Goldorak’s.

I’ve been blessed and had the opportunity to stay in many amazing hotels throughout my lifetime, but the Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra may be my new favorite hotel in the world. It is absolutely beautiful, and the staff is so polished and friendly.

I don’t remember the type of room I had, other than the patio lead out to the beautiful garden. i don’t have Accor status, but they brought me a drink when checking in, as well as left some macaroons, sweets and fruits in the room.

I paid the upgraded fee to have access to the lounge, breakfast and late check out, though I never made it to the lounge, as it was a whirlwind couple of days for me.

I really enjoyed the pool and the proximity to the temples. (Speaking of the temples, I had the hotel arrange a guide for me, the guide was excellent and thoroughly knowledgeable in the history of the temples, Cambodia and SE Asia.)

My biggest regret about this hotel is that I only stayed here two nights! I plan on visiting Vietnam next year, and will likely come back to Siem Reap and this Sofitel, but will plan on spending a week here.

Food prices were very reasonable, considering what I am accustomed to paying for room service at most other hotels. For example, an order of beef-fried rice was approx. $7 via room service.

The concierge was extremely knowledgeable and friendly to all requests. I can’t remember his name, but I see him in Goldorak’s photo. The farewell assembly of staff to wave goodbye was a nice touch. Can’t wait to come back!
