It helps a bit. Unfortunately, it's misnamed--there's not much pad to it. It spreads the load out but it doesn't conform to the body. Since the capture clip used on a pack rides low on the shoulder it's on a piece of the body that isn't flat.

However I really only plan to use it on my belt to get the Capture off my belt and into a better position. Personally I find that the straps on the Every Day backpack are so thick that even without the Pro Pad, I have difficulty getting Capture positioned correctly and cinched down (and I have to use the thumb knobs because I move that one from the EDB to the messenger bag and back).
I haven't really had a chance to try it yet though, but hopefully soon.
