Myself and the missus are off on a driving holiday to the South of France next week and we intend to spend a day or two in Paris - thanks to the great suggestions here on FT Paris.

We'd ideally like to stay on the outskirts of Paris (to the west) and catch the metro into town.

Does anyone have any suggestions on areas where we could stay (and park the car for free) and/or names of hotels. We don't need anything fancy, just cheap and cheerful.
