I think it is about approaching staying at the hotel with the right perspective. If you go in hoping for upgrades or for the hotel to show any appreciation for Hilton loyalty, you will be disappointed. If you view it as an opportunity to earn Hilton points at a world class hotel, then I can't imagine you would be disappointed. I thought the hotel was gorgeous and the service was great all around. The rooftop and pool has sweeping views of Beverly Hills and LA that are second to none. Service worked well with the concierge texting, house car reservations for Saturday dinner, etc.. Everything was top notch - room service, all food on property was delicious, valet is immediately prompt, turn down treats, etc. At check-in, they flat out told me that because I booked a Beverly Hills king room I was ineligible for an upgrade. I already booked their nicest guest room and they only upgrade from room to room , not from room to suite was what I was told. Of course, junior suites were available in the next category up and they offered it for a "discounted supplement" of 125.00 a night. What a way to make a first impression - nickel and dime a diamond member on a cash rate in a premium room. The difference between this hotel and others like the WA Chicago that also take this approach to loyalty is that the WA Beverly Hills hard product and service is actually vastly superior to any Hilton property in the U.S. It is more on par with a nice new construction Four Seasons.
