I booked a cheap economy basic ticket on AC (014) stock.

Besides three flights on AC metal, the ticket contains two flights on LX metal as well as one on LH metal.

I would like to reserve seats.

The first flight is a short haul into ZRH op. by LX, followed by ZRH-YYZ op. by LX, followed by YYZ to the US op. by AC, followed by that US city to YYZ op. by AC, followed by YYZ-MUC op. by AC, followed by MUC-XXX op. by LH.

As an LH SEN, I thought I was eligible for free seat reservations on:
- the two flights on LX metal
- the flight on LH metal

I have a AC booking code, a booking code for LH, and a booking code for LX (which is the same as the booking code for LH).

Now, on the AC website, I cannot reserve seats for any segment free of charge. Alright, doesn't surprise me.

On the LX website, the system allows me to make a seat reservation for the ZRH-YYZ segment only. I can select a seat. But then a payment page comes up. I cannot actually confirm the seat without payment.

On the LH website, I can select seats for the three flights on AC (!!!) metal. Sounds absurd, but the LH website indeed shows me the seat maps and says I can select seats "gratis" (free of charge). But when I try to confirm my selections, the selections cannot be saved. It fails with an error message.



Could somebody enlighten me what are my benefits on this itinerary?

Note I already called the LH SEN hotline. They said they wouldn't be able to reserve me a seat on ZRH-YYZ as it's op. by LX. I told them I'd call LX tomorrow. The LX segments are actually the ones where I care about seat reservations the most.
