All--
I am on the hunt (so far, unsuccessfully) for a purse/handbag that is light and foldable so that it can be easily packed and won't take up much room in my suitcase. I travel carry on only, with a small rolling suitcase and a backpack. I love having the backpack to carry my laptop, notes, cables, purse items, etc. during the day, but my frequent business trips almost always include evening dinners with my external counsel and for those, a backpack feels both "wrong" and overkill. So I'd like a purse I can easily pack and take with me for those occasions. I know the obvious solution is a Longchamp -- but I've bought two different sizes and tried them and they were both simply too big. Even with some organizing pouches or inserts, everything just sloshed around the bag and was a mess.
Here are the things I think I'd like in such a bag, if it exists:
- Size -- larger than one of those little cross body bags but smaller than a tote bag you might use to schlep around your life.
- Weight - as light as possible.
- Fabric -- nylon is fine. I'm afraid most leathers would be too heavy/bulky, but I'm willing to be shown otherwise. Also open to other fabric ideas.
- Style -- flexible on this; could be cross body, could have handles. Doesn't need to be super dressy, just look acceptable with business casual outfits.
- Color - Black. If there's hardware on the bag, silver, nickel, black or gunmetal are preferred over gold.
- Price - I don't want to spend $1000 on this, but for the right bag, I'm willing to invest as I will carry and use it almost weekly.
Thank you so much for your ideas.
