Honestly...I’d love for Alaska to start flying to a host of new locations. But, even more than that, I want Alaska to solidify its current network such that I can actually get to the places they already fly. Frankly, many of their destinations are not accessible to me because the logistics of getting there and coming back are not feasible (I know that this issue has been discussed before, but I’m bringing it up again here and now, partly to vent some recent frustrations).
If I wish to fly Alaska to Boston or Detroit from Los Angeles, where I’m based, I cannot actually arrive on the same day I depart. My one nonstop choice to Boston is a red-eye. In the case of Detroit, I have to spend the night in Seattle. I’m not even asking for more nonstops; I don’t mind connecting in SEA, PDX, SFO. Just get me to my destination on the same day! My second ask is more than just one flight to and from a destination a day! I want the flexibility to know that if I can’t make the morning flight, I’ll get on the afternoon one. If I find out last minute that I need to leave the next day and get somewhere early, I don’t have to abandon Alaska and jump on some other airline last minute!
Better flexibility and within network compatibility should be their most immediate goal in my opinion...long before they decide to fly anywhere new!
