So, I took three deep breaths and called Bose; they put me on hold for an entire two minutes. Nicholas told me I was six weeks out of warranty, and he gave me an address and an exchange number. So, I send my broken headphones and all accessories in. Bose replaces them for free (well, I paid shipping one way, USPS Priority Insured,) and the new 'phones have a - one year warranty! :-:

THAT'S customer service - they could have easily blown me off or told me to send them in for repair$. And they apparently empower their C/S staff to make things right without a lot of rigmarole. ^
Then they have obviously improved their service, in the past they were always absolutely terrible to deal with. Glad to hear it went so smooth.
