Curious to know whether this is standard for a card with a $199 annual fee but this is probably the lowest I have ever been approved for in probably 15 years. Usual limits have been closer to $20-25K. I have one other CC (Marriott Boundless) with a $80K limit (consolidated over time) and this was my first ever Business Credit card with Chase.
I do have 2 mortgages (for 2 properties) with Chase but of late I have drained most of my savings accounts and moved the money to online banks for higher rates of interest. Maybe Chase is a bit sour about that.
You may find a letter soon saying that they moved 6k from your Marriott card over to open the new account.
Happened to me in the past a few times, same issue with a large credit lines because I closed and consolidated on both the business and personal sides.
This is likely the reason for non automated approval as well, that also just happened to me. The good news is that you can call / email and have the lines moved/adjusted to your needs/liking.
