Stay Report - 10/12 - 10/13
Location: The hotel is located about 10 minutes from downtown Rapid City right off I-90 and US 16 Bypass. Nearby are a number of other chain hotels including one with an indoor waterpark. There's also a Perkins, an Arby's and a McDonalds and a number of gas stations, stores and restaurants around. Being near to I-90 makes it well suited for getting around the area.
Hotel: The hotel is a massive four story building with a really high number of rooms. The parking lot is a bit small especially as its shared with a Home2 Suites and there's currently another hotel under construction next door. There's a nice lobby area with small store and a single computer with printer next to the check in desks. There's a laundry room and pool as well.
Check In: Handled by a nice agent who thanked me for being Titanium and offered a marketplace item or bonus points as a welcome amenity. I was also told that all the signs in the hotel corridor are wrong. They were misprinted and installed and no one noticed. You have to do the opposite of what the sign says (e.g. if it says rooms 200-220 left, you go right). That was really odd.
Room: I'd booked a one bedroom, two queen suite and it was a really, really nice room. Large kitchen area with dining table and full sized appliances, living room area with couch and chair and large TV, bedroom with two beds and another TV and a big bathroom. On the negative sides there were no outlets near the bed and the Wifi didn't work in the bedroom and worked poorly in the living room.
Breakfast: Typical of an RI it was a mob scene. It runs from 7 to 9:30 on weekends and when we got there at 8:45 they were out of most food, slow to replace any, there were limited places to seat and they tried to close up early. They appeared to have biscuits, scrambled eggs, sausage and cold items.
The nice rooms help balance out the bad breakfast (next time I'll just go to McDonalds) and other minor issues. I'd be back.
