Can make changes as per usual J class tickets on SQ to move this flight to another time/day?
Would I just do this by calling SQ with the new single segment booking code?
No. The ticket is still owned by Air Canada, so you must call Aeroplan to make any changes, and be careful - if they find award space on another day that is less convenient to you, they might try to rebook you onto that, rather than keeping your SQ J flight.

I'd keep it as is if you're able to - that's a pretty good win.
