I reached WY gold status via status match (with Krisflyer). I’ve a flight in economy (MXP-MCT) in a couple of weeks. The flight is completely full in Y (it’s not possible to book a Y seat…don’t know about overbooking) but there’s plenty of availability in J (+/- 15 seats based on a dummy booking). My res. is for 4 person. Do you think I have any chance for an op-up?!? Is it absolutely impossible because of the 4 passengers? Or maybe they can upgrade only 1-2 passenger within the booking and keep the others in Y? Is it better to call and ask to separate in 2 different booking (2 person each) to augment my chances?
I’m also considering to bid for upgrade…do you know if my status help vs other “no-status” passengers?
Thanks!
I doubt there is anybody able to answer your request; from my side I just suggest avoiding touching your reservation to split in two, it will probably not be of any help for your op up plan, even more to deal with WY customer service/call center is in most cases a total pain and often useless, I would just avoid messing up your booking. With other airline (EY) even traveling in group, happened that they offered to me only an op up as I was gold tier as Y full and there was only one seat available in J. As I was traveling with wife and small daughter I rejected and swapped my J seat with another very happy Y traveler.
