I ask because Świnoujście is on my list of places to go, but also as I recently passed through another area on this border, Frankfurt (Oder) and Słubice, and I found that most of the Polish people I encountered did not know English or German, and those who did speak other languages, tended to prefer English.
I would say that over half of the tourists there are German. As it a lot easier to get to this city from Germany, than from the rest of Poland. Although, I understand there is a plan to build a tunnel to the Polish side so that drivers won't have to use the ferries. As for the locals' language skills... I would say most store and shop owners (in the tourist areas) speak "merchant" German more than English. But at the hotels, the staff seem to speak both.

As for this hotel, it sits around the corner from the Swinoujscie train station (for the train that comes from Germany, not the one next to the ferry station) and is maybe a one km walk to the beach. The yet-to-open Hilton is right by the Radisson hotel, which is right by the beach and promenade (far east side).
