What is the language situation like in Świnoujście? I guess very few Germans know Polish, but do the Polish people living there speak German, English or neither?

I ask because Świnoujście is on my list of places to go, but also as I recently passed through another area on this border, Frankfurt (Oder) and Słubice, and I found that most of the Polish people I encountered did not know English or German, and those who did speak other languages, tended to prefer English.
