I know this initiated with talk about LH upgrades, but I have multiple experiences with AC upgrades from Y to PE and PE to J. These were always credited to United, and I always received credit for the original fare on the purchased ticket, not the upgrade.

No more bidding for AC upgrades for me if I want to qualify for anything above Gold through PQPs!
