I started a new thread as I imagine this will be a common question for PQP qualifications. A number of airlines allow for upgrade bids (this is not for 016/UA tickets as we know those fees low qualify for PQP) so interested whether upgrade bids change the fare code.
Believe this is yet TBD and might be purely at UA's discretion. In addition to the bids, you may also have an option to buy a cheap Prem Eco or Business upgrade at the airport. That surely changes the fare class on the Boarding pass. But in the past UA has denied mileage bonuses for these. Again YMMV.
