I consider the BKK-TLV of 31 October to be the true final flight for EL AL 747s.

The Rome gig is a special flight, reserved only to a few, those with MATMID cards with whatever leftover seats available to the plebs in case they don't fill up.

BKK-TLV flight is everybody's flight. It looks fully booked by the way.

I am trying to understand why are they doing this special flight Nov 1-3 rather than Nov 1-2.

Have they got parties planned in Rome for a happy few, the top tier elite MATMID members while the rest of the crowd will have to play tourists in the city waiting for the return flight? Do I get it right?

and why not sell all the seats upfront to all aviation ehthusiasts who want to be part of this special flight?

Bangladesh Biman did not favour their frequent flyers when they had the final DC-10 sightseeing flights out of Birmingham. Everybody could buy all the seats on all 3 special flights. No discrimination.
It was a great experience with a wonderful atmosphere.

I don't get it.
