I have to agree with 5khours here. I have taken an hour long walk around my neighbourhood and adjoining areas in Tokyo. I have yet to see a single incident of damage. Greatest inconvenience is that Starbucks is closed, and people have not been out to sweep up the fallen leaves.
Not to say typhoons don't cause damage and loss of life, but compared to many, many other typhoons that hit the Tokyo area this one was mild. And relative to the media hype this one was as I said a total nothing burger. (As meteorologists predicted) it barely met the criteria for a typhoon when it made landfall. The media hype forced public officials and transport companies to over-react.
