Just completed a three-night stay in a family room at this property. Was looking for a room with two separate beds (2 friends travelling together) and this came up at a HH sale price (~100 GBP less than usual rate).
Early check-in was unsuccessful around 1030am. Was also told due to booking of family room, there was no upgrade available for this room type. They stowed our bags. We were given cookies to-go and we set off on our day. When we returned around 4pm, the room was STILL not ready. We were finally in our room around 5pm after a "rush" was placed with housekeeping.
Room was spacious, with a double bed and a single/twin bed. There was a separate sitting area with 2 chairs and a side table, plus a large desk w chair along the wall. The mattresses were firm (= comfy for me) and the bathroom well stocked, although we had to call for extra towels. Soon after we were in our room, a fruit plate was sent up, with a card apologizing for the inconvenience and wait for the room. Nice touch! It was a huge fruit plate, and lasted us the whole three days.
Initially, the room smelled of curry / indian food, possibly due to the restaurant below preparing for dinner. The window had been opened, and we closed it and cranked up the AC fan to try to rid the smell. Later, when a friend came by to meet up with us, she commented on the smell as well, although by then, our noses had acclimatized to the smell inside. However, every time we entered the room, we noticed the smell, but because we kept the window closed for the rest of our stay, the smell became fainter over the days.
There were three bottles of water in the room. The next day, housekeeping did not replenish the water, but on subsequent days, they were replenished. We took advantage of the breakfast buffet a couple of times, and it was adequate.
At check-in, I had requested a late check-out of 4pm. I was told this is OK, but I always make a habit of double-checking on the morning of our check-out. The desk agent was uncertain, and indicated there was no such note, but the Front Desk manager overheard and immediately approved it.
Service overall was very good, with super friendly staff, and all requests were quickly attended to (extra towels, change to foam pillows, etc.)
All in all, a great stay and the location of the hotel is fantastic. Would definitely stay here again.
