Definitely do not do this - as a buddy pass traveler, as far as United is concerned, you do not exist as a status customer - that means NONE of the perks of Silver status apply to your booking, and making any attempt to ask for these perks, or mentioning your status, could get you bounced from the flight and your sponsor in deep trouble.
