I think it is subjective
For example - I think redeeming 62500 AA miles, plus the loss of earned AA miles (and credit toward EQS, upgrades, etc), is not worth saving $899
AA fare is I believe $1,950. FWIW this ticket is for a companion, and I am not earning AA status this year, so earned AA miles aren't a big concern here
