It depends on the store. Lowes will usually issue an auto refund to the same card without a swipe. Walmart, Sams, and Costco will have you swipe your card, so the strategy is pay with Visa CC to get points when you buy, then swipe your debit card to get free cash but no negative points when you return items.
TJ Maxx insists you use the same card, but if its a mastercard for example you can swipe another MC and tell them its an AU on the same account. Problem is, most of us don't have MC debit cards,
Interesting idea about putting refunds on a debit card. I wonder if a bank might get annoyed.
A Sam's rep had told me that in-club purchases are refunded to the same card, but you can use any card for refund when returning on-line purchases in store. I've seen Costco give cash back.
I use
Memory Bank as my primary bank, it issues MC debit card. Might try it at TJ Maxx to see if that works.
