Don't forget that your status/card expiry is the end of the month following your annual tier point collection anniversary. So if your TP anniversary is 9 Oct, then your previous status will last until end November before being downgraded. But if that still isn't enough to cover the period in which your flight is in, then as others have suggested, you might want to move to a seat you know will stick.
