Interesting that you perceive it that way. What about those Captains (there seem to be quite a few of them) who in their welcome announcement like to emphasise what a fantastically excellent and highly professional crew will be looking after the passengers? To me this always sounds rather patronising. Is there supposed to be some kind of etiquette?

Also, some of them really overcook the "we at British Airways realise you have a choice and are really so very incredibly grateful that you have chosen to fly with us this evening and hope you understand that we never take your custom for granted" etc. At the end of the day I'm taking public transport and when I'm on BA it's usually because they offered the most convenient connection to where I want to go.
