From the news articles it seems this person had neither ID or Boarding Pass. First question is how she cleared TSA security, second how did she get past the gate agent without a boarding pass. Plain ID, Real ID, or no ID doesn't change anything if she was screened by TSA. Perhaps she slipped through one of the employee entrances where TSA refuses to conduct full time screening. Bottom line Real ID wouldn't have made any difference.
