Well it is the first time I am encountering this via the SPG site. I have made many reservations for Starwood hotels around the world, via SPG, the last few years and I have not noticed this kind of special offers before.
In general I make reservations for a room and pay extra for an extra person in the room, via the SPG site.
I do know it works differently when booking rooms for single use via other sites or reservationsoffices.
By no means it was my intention to connect this practice to French people!! I just refer to the fact that the Westin Trianon is also a Starwood hotel.
