These folks seem very "ew" about carpet - allergies, filled with dust, perceived as dirty even when clean.
Vinyl plank flooring (which is 90% of the "wood floors" out there) is very easy to clean on a daily basis and provides more of the clean perception that the prime age groups demand.
One downside: Noise. Without a proper underlayment, vinyl plank floors can transmit a lot of foot clomping.
