I have read a few threads on this general topic, but hopefully there are some more recent opinions that can be shared. I am flying in and out of San Diego for an eight day trip around New Year's with my wife and three year old. I'll have 100k+ Hyatt points plus a category 1-4 free night to play with, though I don't mind paying cash. At this point, it looks like the Manchester Grand could be a good bet for at least a few days as a base for checking out touristy sites around San Diego.

For the second half of the trip, I am debating between the Park Hyatt Aviara, Regency Huntington Beach, Indian Wells, some combination of those, or perhaps something else. I want to aim for a resort setting in part to give my daughter some pool time and possibly beach time, though I realize there are some inherent limitations due to the weather at that time of the year

Having never stayed at any of these hotels myself, does this seem to be on the right track?
