Think about a flying version of the hyperloop. One super-fast plane continues flying around the world, other slower ones join up and transfer you onto this big/fast plane.
Anyway, military does refueling in mid-air, just climb that hose they use to refuel and you can hop on another plane and not have to land, and repeat.
