Why not use them for cash-expensive routings to otherwise-inconvenient destinations?
For example, now that we know LA is leaving OneWorld, you could redeem BA/IB/LA to Chile, then do a trip on LATAM's Easter Island (LATAM are the only airline that serve the island!) and Tahiti service, and then connect to Australia on Qantas.
