All the united cars website does is serch hertz with the United Code (62455) and PC rate (204508, i think). The rates are always, 100% identical from what I see. What I think it means is that the united discount rate is usually 20% off the base hertz rate, which I tend to agree with. But you can get the same discount/benefits booking directly with Hertz.
Or you may get better benefits by booking with Hertz (ie, other promos they might have).
I’m not so sure it books ‘directly’ through Hertz - as another poster mentioned, and as it says on the top of the page when searching either by cash/miles, it is ‘powered by rentalcars.com’. Maybe that’s owned by Hertz, who knows. But that’s not Hertz directly, at least it doesn’t seem so. Also, at least cash have other options besides Hertz - Thrifty is one.
