I know revenue management is a complex beast I’ll never get my head around.
Same here, and it is quite perplexing. After playing with multiple dates and departure cities, I booked wife, baby, and myself CW from LAX-LHR-JNB 9th-23rd October for a total of $8,300. Next day I checked to see how much it would cost to upgrade to F. Was rather pleased and surprised to have upgraded all 3 of us for $3000! Total of $11,300 for 2 adults and a lap child in F on the A380 to me is a good deal. Really looking forward to the experience. $11K +/- was what I was finding for the RT CW from DFW, so making the quick flight to LAX for the connection is worth it. (Not to worry, this is the baby's 3rd TATP flight at 16 months old. He's a trooper. (makes it easier not having to fly in Y)) :-)
