Earning miles takes a long back seat to my comfort for a 25-30 hour flight. I need to be able to function when I get there and the 12 hour flip in time is already going to be hard enough to adapt to I suspect. Also looking at Emirates, although if I went with them it would run about 600 out of my own pocket.
In that case, I would definitely avoid Emirates as it's angle-lie flats on the DXB-MNL leg. Qatar seems like your best bet, although one advantage of positioning to NYC (in addition to saving a few $$) is you could select a flight that arrives in the evening in MNL (example: SQ or KE), which would allow you a night's rest in a real bed before beginning work.
