Not commenting on AA's or DL's TCON meals, but in my view UA's int'l meal is a 'mini-meal' already.
Compared to the others, it's a veritable feast. And really perfect for a 5-6 hour flight IMO.

The difference between SFO-EWR and SFO-JFK is the network effect of having hubs on both ends, so there's virtually limitless demand in either direction. I think if the opportunity cost of operating widebodies on virtually every SFO-EWR frequency were right, they'd do it.
Yeah. They've put 777's with 10 across Y and 8 across J on that route. And filled them up.
To add one more point on the widebodies, when I started flying, it was common to see 747's, DC-10's, and L1011's flying LA-NY and SFO-NY, on United TWA, American, Continental, and Pan Am.
It isn't as though all that demand ever disappeared. It's just that a lot of airlines switched to smaller planes for frequency reasons and to ensure higher loads.
It still makes a lot of sense to fly big planes on those routes.
