Wife and I are travelling JFK-LAX with our baby (lap infant) in business class on January 3rd. We are booked on AA171 departing at 6am. At the time of booking all other flights that day were double the price so I thought we’d suck up the early departure. I would say SDFC is unlikely, given that it's after the new year and JFK-LAX tends to fill up (often with paid J). You could also hold out for a schedule change–could happen, but again not too likely. I guess it also depends on how badly you want to move to the later departure. Personally, I like an early morning departure, but that's me.
