One Night Stay

Check In Arrived around 6pm, had 3 agents at the desk, each currently helping someone at the counter. Check in was efficient. Had originally booked a 2 Queen - 1 Bedroom Suite, and received the same unit as if I had checked in through the app. The app showed the room as the only one available, so decided to wait to check in, since the site did show availabilty for a City View 2 Queen - 1 Bedroom. Was not offered the upgrade at check-in (and didn't feel like pushing it since it was only for a night), but I did hear the person next to us at check-in was upgraded. But I am not sure how many of each room type they have. Room The room was large for NYC Standards. I liked how the front door was offset a bit, so that potential noise from the hallway would not reach the sleeping area. This hotel would be ideal for a family/longer stays. Plenty of storage. One interesting thing was the bathroom door is just a sliding door, no lock. The bathroom had a nice, large standing shower with optional spray arm. No bathtub (the friend I was traveling with was a little disappointed, since last time they stayed at the Royalton and had a nice bath...although looking at reviews, not all room have the same setup).Even though it has recently been updated, there was some wear and tear on trim. The view from the 39th floor (facing South), was not high enough to see over the buildings across the street (didn't expect, since it is not labeled city view...I noticed on some hotels they list which floors are city view, but was not able to find for this hotel...would think 45th floor and up). There was some view looking down the street. Service The only service request we had was for a toothbrush to be brought up. We put the request in after check-in and took around 30 minutes to head out to a concert. The toothbrush was waiting for us when we returned after 2am. Did not notice before we left, but to order breakfast without waiting in the morning, you need to put the slip out before 2am. We put it out around 2:30am, just in case there was a delay, but it was still there in the morning. We placed an order around 10am and there was a 45-60 minute expected time. The order arrived a little over an hour later. The food was good quality, but not really worth the price. If I were to stay again, I would go around the corner to Astro Restaurant. The man bringing the food up explained that the 18% charge counts as tip. He said he feels bad if he doesn't explain that to guests. Location For our use, the location was convenient. I had a free weekend night certificate to use and did not have any planned trips. We ended up seeing a show at Radio City and figured it was a good time for a little staycation. Nice being within walking distance of the venue. Overall Overall I was impressed with the hotel, especially for a possible points redemption in the city. In terms of cash rate, I found the prices to be a little high (but that goes with location). The only other suite I have stayed in was The Kimberly, although it doesn't have as much directly around it. But sometimes cash rates can be half of what London/Conrad charges.
