I am going to a wedding next year at a beach resort in Calafell. I am not familiar with the area and while Big Brother Barcelona and Sister Sitges are obviously just up the road, I am more interested in what may be in the immediate local area off the beaten path.

I like lying on the beach and being pampered for a couple days, and the venue looks fab so I am looking forward to some R&R, but we will be there for a week which is too long for just that.

Any suggestions for this area? I like outdoors stuff - like hiking in the mountains, wandering around abandoned ruins, or through an old town either big or small that is not crammed with tourists and amenities. Not a big museum person unless it is about local history or something else unique to the area. Trying not to rent a car, just getting by with train & Uber / taxis if possible. It will be summer so unfortunately peak tourist season and hot, but we are from Florida so being out in the heat is fine, and long walks to get somewhere are OK (and in fact desirable).
