Demand for the centre couple seats in Club World- Wait or pay?

I’ve just booked our first trip in Club world between LHR and SFO next year in August. Outbound looks to be an A380, inbound a B747. My question is, would you pay extra now to secure two seats together (the two centre seats that face the same way) or wait till free selection when online check in starts 24hrs before? Whilst the flight is nearly a year off, what’s the chances those seats would still be available come check in? Is there a high demand for them or should I still have a good chance of being able to nab them?

I’m travelling with a member of family, so my preference is to be sat together. However, having just spent £££ on this trip, I’m not loving the idea of having to pay a few hundred pounds extra EACH WAY just to select a seat if not necessary, but do worry whether we would end up separated if I don’t.

For those who travel or have travelled club world, and have left seat selection till the online check in begins, how much seat availability was there?

Thanks in advance!
