You were fortunate that UA waived the 14 day advance ticket provision. My friend's partner's father passed away a month ago and I tried to use my BPMT9M award to get my friend to SIN for the wake and funeral. UA 1P desk wouldn't ticket the reservation because it was less than 14 days in advance.
