You would need to split the PNR, which requires a call. Also, that will prevent the other person from using benefits due to your elite status in general.

Using miles too upgrade a (domestic I assume) ticket means that you're doing a pay with miles buyup to a higher fare class and tickets with different fares cannot share a PNR.
