I cannot see that insurance would do anything extra- it may be possible to reclaim expenses from insurance instead - which may well pay out quickler - and then the insurer may reclaim from airline

As far as any additional cost for flights, I cannot see that insurance will pay anything since a replacement flight has been given by the airline
