They all had their pros and cons but wouldn’t want to go out of my way to stay at any of them again (except for maybe the Novotel but my Bonvoy points would be useless there).
This time I am deciding between the two Edition hotels. We will have our 7 month old with us this time around so just need to take that into account when making our decision. Times Square Edition looks appealing but not sure how practical the location is with our baby and the rooms look quite small also. Although NYE would be a one of a kind experience but again with the baby it might just not be a smart choice. New York Edition rooms seem larger and it seems quite convenient in terms of location. I have gold status but not sure what benefits I would receive at either property.
Another thought was to splurge for the St Regis but I already feel that I’m splurging for the Edition’s so not sure if I’ll go down that path.
I have no desire to be in Times Square on NYE, so I would definitely choose the New York Edition. Location aside, I do think the New York Edition is the better hotel. The rooms are not only bigger but also nicer. I find the rooms at the Times Square location somewhat stark.
I am a big fan of The Chatwal, which is very close to Times Square but just far enough away to feel like you're not in the middle of the craziness. Note that with both The Chatwal and the St. Regis you should check to see if there is a third-night free promo (either through Luxury Privileges or otherwise), which would bring the cost down substantially.
