I assume OP was in that half-asleep state, where you're semi-conscious of your surroundings, but on the precipice of drifting off.

Regardless, it's not as if this detail casts into doubt the veracity of the account. I'm sure the OP did appear to be fully asleep and that the FA did, in fact, do what the OP conveyed.
