The ticket receipt does show a Fare Family spelled out: "PREMIER" for the Business ticket and "FLEXIBLE" for the Full Economy fare. I've been e-mailing back and forth with Delta and pointing out that Fare Family. I'll try Twitter next, but would like to be able to point out the proper way to interpret the Fare Class.
The fare code "I" was included on the printed boarding pass. I always ensure to get those, despite having checked in online.

I just had the same issue again with an "I' fare paid business class ticket booked through AM directly. I included my DL SM number at booking, and it appeared on the AM app, but not on the printed boarding pass. When I queried the check-in agent, she stated it was in the system. When the miles hadn't posted after a few weeks, I used Twitter once again to begin the claim. My first attempt resulted in getting discounted economy based accrual. My second attempt was successful, but only after the Twitter agent asked for a supervisor to intercede. DL claims the ticket number never entered their system, so I'm beginning to think this is an AM issue, although I've never had this problem in past years, but using Expedia or Amex to book the ticket.
