WHOA, hold on there. Let's not get out of control now. While theoretically possible, I don't think SWA is too worried about this scenerio. If changing a companion could be done quickly online, possibly 137 of us FT CP holders could get together and do this for kicks. But unfortunately to change the name on a CP, you have to send it in and wait for up to a month to get a new one back in the mail. Plus, I sure don't know 137 of my friends that have CPs. Come to think of it, I'm not sure I even have 137 friends.

And to squash your remaining hopes, somewhere in the CP rules it states that ONE PERSON cannot be both the CP holder AND a companion. So no, it wouldn't work. I think this may have been discussed here before. Although maybe I thought the same scenario up in my head and read in the rules that it wasn't possible.

I can tell you from experience though that it IS INDEED POSSIBLE that one person can be both a paying customer AND a companion on the same flight. That person would hold two tickets and two boarding passes and he and the CP holder could take up a full row (3 seats) to themselves even if there are standbys waiting outside to get on. Yeah, I felt like a jerk when everybody walked by our Row 1 seat and I told them the seat was taken, but hey, sometimes ya need a little extra elbow/leg room, ya know.

BTW, welcome to FT, what took you so long to get that first post in? Hopefully you'll post more often, I like your thinking.
