I agree with getting the non-DL AMEX Platinum Card and charging all airline tickets to it, DL or other for the 5X MR points. If you afford the spend and can use the additional benefits, the DL Reserve card in combination, can pay for itself. $200 airline charges, 30K MQM and 30K Skymiles ($300 at $.01 used for PWM), MQD waiver (up to PM) and the F Companion Ticket in combination have a value that exceeds the cost of the card and the 30K MQM may help you with a higher status.
