Staying 1 night on a UA mileage run - I decided to use points rather than go with the Kama'aina special because I am not parking a car, and the special rates still charge a resort fee. Unlike the good ol' SPG days, I see a points stay also charges the resort fee, which is a real scam, but I digress.
Any recent reports on the hotel? I am a LT Plat - which breakfast option am I entitled to? Restricted continental or buffet, with or without upcharge? I assume the chance of an upgrade is about zero, even for 1 night.
I booked the basic room type, but I was scammed by the marriott.com website - it offered me a premium ocean/diamond head view room for a $79 upcharge plus the points, but when I clicked through to take it, I was charged $279 minus a phony 'statement credit' if I applied for their useless credit card. I consider this bait and switch, and I should probably report it to the CA Attorney General's office.
