I think contactless cards could count (or at least their marketing). Sure, AmEx, Capital One and the Costco card already had it, but Chase was the first one to truly end up creating buzz around it--to the point where a significant number of other issuers are following suit. Visa likely helped at least in part, however, if the tap to pay stickers I've been seeing at stores are any indication.
